About this event

This enlightening presentation examines the life of the man whose name has become synonymous with “genius.” Learn how a childhood fascination with a compass played a role in the development of the Nobel prize-winning scientist, how he accepted a job in Princeton to escape Nazi Germany and how he used his celebrity to advocate for civil rights and advance world peace.   For this lecture we welcome Eve Mandel, a guest speaker from the Princeton Historical Society.

Eve Mandel has been a full-time staff member at the Historical Society of Princeton since 2011. As Director of Programs and Outreach, she plans and teaches a menu of programs for adults and the general public at their site and in the community. In addition, she develops curriculum and teaches a wide range of education programming for schools throughout central New Jersey. Eve is also responsible for overseeing museum visitor services, community relations, press, social media and public relations, as well as building collaborations with other non-profits and service organizations. Eve earned her BA at American University and her Certification for Teaching at the College of Saint Elizabeth; prior to joining HSP’s staff, she held positions at the Morris Museum and National Constitution Center.

This event will take place on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 2-4 pm at the historic Van Liew-Suydam house: 280 South Middlebush Road, Somerset, NJ.  Light refreshments will be served.  Tickets are $12 for members (available 3/7/24) and $15 for non-members (available 3/9/24 at noon).  Please email  tmf.org.1289@gmail.com to reserve tickets for payment at the door.
