About this event
Welcome to the outdoor classroom! This captivating walking adventure covers an hour of pivotal events that left their mark on the literal shape of Corvallis. Long time locals are often surprised how much they didn't know, and valley visitors tend to leave with well-informed smiles on their faces!
Throughout our journey, dynamic storytelling will reveal:
- what Montana has to do with the Willamette Valley being a major agricultural center
- how medieval forests in Europe impacted the Pacific Northwest
- why the Oregon Trail became a household name
- what it took to establish a town in the 1800s
- how immigrants impacted native Kalapuya
- how asphalt shaped the town
- an unsettling role Corvallis played in WWII
- the cause of the biggest financial collapse in the town's history
We'll launch from the temperature-controlled lobby of the Courtyard Marriott - 1st & Adams. The total route is just under a mile with lots of protection from the sky along the way.
We look forward to sharing Corvallis' chronicles with you!
