About this event
Hologram is a live stage performance.
Kyle Driggs and Jay Gilligan use the art of juggling to craft a visual experience for the audience. Objects are choreographed to a live soundtrack. These images are combined with specific lighting effects. The results often evoke the qualities of holographic images. Juggling is the central combining force. The rhythm of juggling represents the rhythm and melody of music. The kinetic nature of juggling catches the eye and reflects the light design. Both sight and sound are unified. It is at the same time majestic and hypnotic. This contemporary production creates illusions from real events. Transforming concrete objects, these illusions are intangible and multifaceted. The imagery is reminiscent of both futuristic marvels and echoes of an older, forgotten technology. Hologram follows in a tradition of artists such as James Turrell and Olafur Eliasson, who have attempted to work with light as if it were a physical object.
