About this event
Doors 7:30 pm, Film (104 min) 8:00 pm, Director Q&A and musical performance to follow.
Join the South Philly Autonomous Cinema for the first screening of our Music Is A Visual Medium series at Solar Myth, A Wilderness of Mirrors (dir. John Bosch, 2011) Movie at 8:00 PM, followed by a brief talk with director John Bosch and a musical performance with sometime Paul K bandmates Bosch, Brad Gordon and Rick Rizzo (Eleventh Dream Day). Tickets $10 in advance, $15 at the door, no one turned away for lack of funds.
John Bosch’s meditative documentary follows cult Louisville, Kentucky songwriter Paul K (called “The greatest unknown songwriter of his generation” by the Chicago Tribune) as his 1998 rock opera A Wilderness of Mirrors, about how an alien encounter precipitates one man’s descent into Job-like tribulations, starts to come bizarrely true in Paul’s own life. Musicians Glenn Kotche (Wilco) and Will Oldham are two of the cast of characters who play with Paul and play his songs in the film. Recommended for fans of Townes Van Zandt, Palace Brothers, Pavement, and weird Americana.
Masks are requested to be worn except when eating or drinking and will be supplied at the door.
