Brian Sances Album Release Concert
About this event
A well-known guitarist and educator, Pat Ryan has performed extensively throughout the New England region, at JazzFest Falmouth, The Cape Cod Jazz Festival, the Provincetown Jazz Festival, and for countless private events, functions and concerts. On this evening, Pat will joined by Boston-based bassist Greg Toro . In addition to originals they will perform their unique arrangements of music from various artists such as Sting, A.C. Jobim, Radiohead, Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, The Beatles, Keith Jarrett, Pat Metheny, and many others.
Says Ryan: “We are so excited to perform in The Listening Room! Greg is one of my absolute favorite bassists to perform with. He’s a great listener, is very supportive, and has a deep groove and sophisticated sense of harmony. His solos are inventive and melodic, and always in service to the music. I’ll be using my Jose Luis Diaz nylon string guitar, which sounds really beautiful with Greg’s acoustic bass. A concert in as setting like this really sets up the possibility for a magical everting!"
After the release of his recording Blu Mulcru, Pat was interviewed by the late Eric Jackson, (acclaimed host ofWGBH public radio’s “Eric in the Evening”). His music has been also featured on WMVY (Martha’s Vineyard), WICN (Worcester) and WAER (Syracuse). Larry Grenadier (bassist for Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Pat Metheny), said this of Pat’s recording: “I was very impressed by it. The playing and writing is first class and the whole record has a great vibe.”
In addition to performing, Pat was the Music Committee Chair of JazzFest Falmouth (2008/2009), to which he brought artists like Esperanza Spalding, Jonathan Batiste (before their respective ascents to fame), vocalist Kate McGarry, guitarist Pat Martino, and many others. He was also a finalist in the Eventide Songwriting competition, a recipient of the Elaine Pear Cohen Award from the Falmouth Arts Council, and founder of Full Spectrum Music on Cape Cod.
