Kirtan and devotional chant are a wonderful way to enrich your life with the yoga of sound, soothe your nervous system and bring joy and bliss into every day! Beginning is simple when you approach the practice by connecting with the sound current and relaxing into your authentic voice!

Join devotional musician and transformational creative guide, Kavita Kat Macmillan for this special day of practice, exploration and community.  Topics will include everything from starting with the steady drone and relaxed mouth position to creating original chants to share with others.  We will follow the flow of the circle and address what is present for the group.

Expect to feel supported with important ways to fine-tune your chanting practice such as :

 ~ History & parts of the Harmonium - where it comes from, the culture around it & how it works

~ Etiquette and customs around the practice of chanting with Harmonium

~ Singing into the tone and finding your home note (SA)

~ Basic introduction to Indian Sargam, how to chant in your home pitch for more ease and confidence

~ Simple ways to build your own chants from your home pitch AND learn and share others chants

~ Instrumentation & Rhythm, adding others to your chant & keeping the beat! 

~ Intonation, pitch, expression, pronunciation and volume for Sanskrit chanting.

~ Vocal opening practices for daily expansion

Your voice & a harmonium are all you need!  For this in-person workshop harmoniums will be provided for those that do not have one.  If you have an instrument, please bring it.
