About this event

Have a seat! Will it be tea or whiskey?

Irish music from the home, the hearth, and the heart. Pub songs, sing-a-longs, original songs and recitations, stories, and ripping dance tunes from deep tradition to the newly composed are the program. The human voice, fiddle, whistles, the almighty tenor banjo, the guitar, bouzouki, bohdran, and bass are the instruments. Every now and again, the kazoo might pop up.

Band leader, award-winning singer and guitarist John Kennedy, is not just a musician; he’s a storyteller who connects with the audience, making every performance an intimate gathering. Kennedy is joined by Chris O'Brien, Joel Cooper, Mike Bill, and Nancy Turner.

“We are family and friends,” Kennedy says, gathering on Thursday evenings since 1998 for music, dinner, and camaraderie. “Our music is rooted in Traditional Irish Music: jigs, reels, hornpipes, aires, recitations, stories, and songs, both original and traditional, from pub songs to comedic songs, from toe-tapping to deeply moving.”

“It’s been more than 25 years of laughter and tears,” Kennedy says. But you can be sure this concert will be fun. Kennedy’s Kitchen has released six CDs, the latest of which is titled “The Whiskey of Truth,” released in 2019. Hear them at kennedyskitchen.com.
