About this event

Howard Levy (harmonica and piano) and Chris Siebold (guitar and vocals) will play a concert in a Woods Hole living room on Sunday, June 22, at 7:30 PM. Ticket holders will be informed of the show's timing, precise Woods Hole location, and other important info, about 24h before the show.

Howard Levy co-founded The Flecktones with Bela Fleck, Victor Wooten and Roy "Futureman" Wooten. This band blew "newgrass" wide open, winning multiple Grammy awards and selling out large halls of diverse, open-minded fans. Also, for several decades, Howard has been one third of Trio Globo with cellist Eugene Friessen and percussionist Glen Velez. Howard has also worked with Steely Dan, Dolly Parton, Muriel Anderson, Paquito D'Rivera and many other of the world's greatest musicians.

Chris Siebold is a monster guitarist who's been playing with Howard Levy for years. He has played with dozens of great Chicago-area musicians throughout his career. On the day before this Woods Hole concert (Saturday, June 21, 2025), you can catch Howard and Chris live on Prairie Home Companion at Tanglewood. When Prairie Home Companion was a weekly radio show, Chris was the regular house guitarist, and Howard was a frequent guest musician.

Howard has been to Woods Hole several times, once with Joe Craven, once with Eugene Friesen, most recently with a quartet that included Chris Siebold, and several times solo.

But my favorite Levy-Siebold performance of all time was with Howard and Chris in a little bar in Manhattan. At one point, Howard turned to Chris and said, "Let's do it." Chris seemed hesitant, but then took a deep breath and launched into an intensely personal musical narrative of love, heartache, betrayal and loss. His musical mastery conveyed his emotional anguish. I thought he was going to break his guitar. It was the ultimate. They played a few more pieces to finish the gig, but I don't know how.

I don't expect the world will ever hear anything like that again, but still, this Woods Hole gig is gonna be special, and maybe Howard and Chris will have a few other tricks up their sleeves.
