Red Skies will play a concert of folk 'n' bluegrass, featuring newgrass and original tunes, in a Woods Hole living room on Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 PM.

Ticket holders will get a "concert info" email detailing the show's location, and other important information, about 24h before the concert.

Deeply discounted tickets for young music fans, age 25 and under, are available for this show.

Red Skies is a quartet with Joe K. Walsh on mandolin, BB Bowness on 5-string banjo, Alex Rubin on guitar and Steve Roy on bass. I think of Red Skies as a third generation bluegrass band. The first generation was created by the likes of Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys and Flatt & Skruggs. My idea of the second generation includes folks like Tony Rice, David Grisman, John Hartford and the Newgrass Revival. I see the third generation of bluegrass as more diverse. It includes jam bands like The Infamous Stringdusters, Yonder Mountain, and Billy Strings, and more traditional bands like Jerry Douglas and the Earls of Leicester, Sierra Hull, Molly Tuttle, Mile Twelve (RIP), and Red Skies.

Joe K. Walsh is one of the great mandolin players of our age. He's been to Woods Hole many times with Darol Anger, Matt Flinner, Matt Munisteri, Joe Craven, and, almost certainly, others. He's always got new musical surprises. Today, in addition to Red Skies, he plays with Darol Anger's Mister Sun and the Mike Block Trio, and teaches at Berklee School of Music.

BB Bowness co-founded, and was, until recently, the banjo player for Mile 12. She won the Steve Martin Banjo Prize in 2020, and was cited by Tony Trischka for, "daring execution!"

Alex Rubin is a monster flat picker who's played all around the world. When he's not with Red Skies, he (and BB Bowness) tour with Ethan Setiawan's Fine Ground. Steve Roy's bass playing has accompanied great players like Molly Tuttle, John Reischman and Laurie Lewis.

Red Skies takes its name from the mariner's saying, "Red Skies in the morning, sailors take warning. Red Skies at night, sailors delight." Red Skies plays at 7:30 PM, so sail on in for a delightful show!
