The Seattle Festival Orchestra opens its 50th anniversary season with Sabre Dance: A Celebration of Armenian Music. The program opens with music by Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian, including selections from his dramatic Spartacus Suite No. 2, the iconic, energetic “Sabre Dance,” and the sweeping “Waltz” from Masquerade. and Contemporary composer Eldar Hudiyev’s Circus, featuring clarinet soloist Benjamin Lulich, brings a playful and dazzling contrast to the program.
