Howard Levy & Chris Siebold in a Woods Hole living room
About this event
Swing pianomeister Gordon Webster brings Paul Cosentino (reeds) and Dylan Perillo (bass) to a Woods Hole living room for a night of flying fingers, crashing keys and musical magic on Sunday, April 13 at 7:30 PM. Ticket holders will learn of the Woods Hole concert location and other important info by email about 24h before the show.
If you are a Woods Hole music lover and haven't heard of Gordon Webster, well, maybe you're distracted by more ephemeral events. A decade ago, Gordon sparked singer Hetty Kate's band at Community Hall. Then he played the Buyway Barbershop with his quintet starring Charles Turner and Danny Lipsitz. For a while before the pandemic, Gordon was flying over to Sweden once a month to play swing dances. And he's been back to Woods Hole with The Arntzen Brothers, Hannah Gill, Jen Hodge, Evan Christopher and others. He likes it here.
Gordon attracts talent. This time he's bringing Paul Cosentino (clarinet, saxophones), who has led The Boilermaker Jazz Band, a west coast swing band, since 1988. One review says, "Paul has an extensive repertoire of tunes encompassing the Great American Songbook- written by some of the best-known composers of American popular song. He is also well versed in early New Orleans jazz, the Swing Era, big band riffs, and everything in between. Paul is known globally for his enthusiastic, energetic, and powerful performances."
Bass player Dylan Perillo played on Gordon Webster's last Woods Hole gig with Evan Christopher and Andrew Stephens. He's also played with Stephane Wrembel, the notorious Manouche-style guitarist. And with the Dylan Perillo Quartet, the Dylan Perillo Quintet and the Dylan Perillo Orchestra.
Here's a video of Gordon in his native habitat - a swing dance!
And here's a video that shows the power of the musical energy in Gordon's fingers:
You know you're in for a breath-taking night, whoever Gordon Webster brings with him. See you there!
