Event Description
The Red Jacket Jamboree invites you to be part of the live studio audience for the recording of two new radio episodes with guest vocalist Maya Belardo. The hourlong episodes are recorded for later radio broadcast.

The Red Jacket Jamboree is a NEW old-time radio variety show sharing stories, songs and history from Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula.  Hosted by Lena Dorey, the show is recorded in front of a live audience inside the RPM studio at the Keweenaw Storytelling Center in downtown Calumet. The show also features Martin Achatz, two-Time Poet Laureate of the U.P.,the Red Jacket Actors and music by the Copper Cats, with Jerry Younce on guitar, Bill Carrothers on piano, Harry South on bass and Jonathan Taylor on percussion.

Delaware native, Maya Belardo is a rising star in the East Coast jazz scene.  After hearing Maya's thoughtful renditions of  "Nature Boy" and "Nearness of You" our music director was set on booking her on The Red Jacket Jamboree.  Making her musical debut at the Clifford  Brown Jazz festival when she was just 17, Maya has performed  at some of the top jazz venues on the East coast and has garnered the support of her community and jazz professionals.  Don't miss this fabulous young artist!
