About this event

The universe is populated by many strange objects: Quasars, pulsars, supernovas, black holes, white dwarfs and a host of other species can be found in the cosmic zoo. What are they, how do they form, and how do we know about them? Jim Hahn will give us the info on these strange and fascinating objects. After an indoor presentation. we will head out to the parking lot for views of the sky through telescopes.

The program will be led by Jim Hahn. Jim is a lifelong amateur astronomer and science enthusiast. He got his first telescope and learned the constellations at the age of 8, built his own telescope at 15, and has been an informal astronomy educator for several years, giving presentations at local nature centers and schools. Jim is an active member of the Northern Cross Science Foundation, a local astronomy club focused on public outreach, and stays current by reading books and periodicals on the subject, both in print and online.
