Breaking Down a Self-tape Audition: One-on-ones

We will run through a short scene of your choice and then quickly break down the context and character to find nuances and make choices on how to make your audition stand out from the rest. We’ll also be mindful of self-taping set up, on-camera technique and blocking to make sure that your tapes look professional.  Please prepare a short 1-2 page scene of your choice; each student will get 15 minutes to work their scene. I am also happy to answer any questions along the way that you may have about honing your skills, planning the trajectory of your career or of the filming industry itself.

You will be emailed a Zoom link on the day of the class.

Bio:

Jackie Dallas is a SAG-AFTRA actress and has appeared in numerous films and popular television and streaming shows such as Stranger Things, 13 Reasons Why, Criminal Minds and more. She has worked in all major markets including Atlanta, New Orleans, New York and Chicago, as well as Los Angeles where she is based. A pursuer of dreams, she left a career in medicine in 2014 to chase after her passions and attributes a lot of her success to approaching the filming industry with a business mindset. One of her favorite things to do is work with other actors to share the insights and knowledge that she’s acquired along the way. She runs a coaching and consulting business for actors who are looking to improve their auditions or advance their career to the next level.
