The band was born in Fort Wayne during the height of the COVID pandemic—a time when connection through was music more vital than ever. JacksonVibe isn’t just a group of musicians; it’s a mirror of life experience, resilience, and the power of music to uplift and inspire.

Derrick Jackson formed JacksonVibe from a deeply personal place and says “JacksonVibe is my biography in rhythm and harmony. We play a variety of styles, each chosen to spark reflection and elevate the spirit. Whether it’s soul, funk, gospel, or acoustic storytelling, our goal is always the same: to connect, heal, and celebrate the human journey.”

"Music found me in the small town of Pierpont, Ohio. Growing up, my family, though we didn't have much, cherished the bond we shared. My mother's simple instruction to play outside and her gentle call for me to return home marked my days. As a child, my creativity knew no bounds.

One pivotal day, my father brought home a bag of radios, only two of which worked. With just one radio station in our rural area, I would perch atop the apple tree along our driveway, belting out tunes with all my might. Those moments in the tree were the highlights of my youth, where my voice echoed through the countryside.

However, my world turned upside down one day when a social worker intervened, separating me from the only family I had ever known. Placed in an orphanage in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, I discovered that the loving caregivers I had known were my foster parents, not my biological family.

Navigating through various locations during my formative years, my experiences have now culminated in JacksonVibe, a musical biography that captures the essence of my journey."
