About this event

On Wednesday, January 8, at 7:30 PM, Natalie Padilla (violin) and Quinn Bachand (guitar) bring their instrumental wizardry to a Woods Hole livingroom. Ticket holders will be told of the concert location, and other important information, by email about 24h before the show.

Quinn Bachand is an impressive member of Jeremy Kittel's impressive band, "Kittel and Company." I've witnessed several Kittel & Co shows, and Quinn's spectacular, well-rounded, skillfully-crafted guitar work always shines through. But I was also blessed to attend Quinn's memorable Manouche-style band concert in Antwerp, Belgium in about 2018. More enduringly, one of Quinn's duets with sister Qristina keeps providing advice via my eternal earworm jukebox: "It's not just what you're given, it's what you do with whatcha got." He's simply . . . compelling.

I've never met Natalie Padilla, or seen her live, but if Quinn's collaborating with her, she must be a bit of OK. Natalie writes, "I started off learning fiddle from my mom, mostly bluegrass and Texas Style - it was fiddle contests, family band and orchestra until I went to college at University of Northern Colorado. There I was introduced to traditional Irish music by flute player Blayne Chastain. Around that time Oldtime music had also found its way into my life, and good thing! - it’s fun and groovy with a fantastic catalog of tunes."

A description of Natalie and Quinn's gig at Northampton's Parlor Room on this tour says that Quinn and Natalie, "met in 2018 at the Montana Fiddle Camp . . . . Quinn’s innovative accompanying style blends effortlessly with Natalie’s original compositions, creating music that captures the ears of studied musicians yet remains accessible to all. Their album Montana Wildflower has been widely and favorably reviewed . . . "
