Four Outsiders: Locals who Changed the World

Come hear an hour of remarkable sidewalk stories about locals whose struggles, triumphs, and contributions defied societal norms and odds to leave an indelible mark on the course of history.

In under mile we cover a century of incredible narratives. Hear about a suffragette’s unbelievable battle and a Chinese woman’s historical contribution after struggling against the misogyny of the 1930s. Learn of a Japanese man’s fight against racism during WWII (there is joy, too!), and meet a trans man whose medical breakthroughs changed the course of history. 

The often-overlooked lives of local women, queerfolk, and people of color have shaped history. 

We'll launch from the temperature-controlled lobby of the Courtyard Marriott - 1st & Adams. The total route is just under a mile with lots of protection from the sky along the way.
