About this event
Join local historian Kevin Harris for a fascinating illustrated talk exploring the birthplace of Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Blakenhall area of Wolverhampton.
Based on his popular guided history walks, this presentation traces the club’s story back to its 1877 origins as St Luke’s FC, long before Molineux became the club's home. Using historic maps, photographs, and first-hand research, Kevin brings to life the streets, buildings, pubs, and open spaces that shaped the early years of Wolves.
The talk explores:
-
Why Blakenhall was central to the club’s formation
-
Early playing fields and meeting places
-
The people and communities behind Wolves’ foundation
-
How the club evolved from a local church team into a professional football club
Accessible, well-researched, and richly illustrated, this talk will appeal to Wolves supporters, local history enthusiasts, and anyone interested in Wolverhampton’s sporting heritage.
